Nina joined Standard Bank in 2005 having previously spent 14 years with CIBC World Markets in London more recently as European Head of Media, Telecoms and Technology and in the early 1990's in the Acquisition Finance unit. While at CIBC, Nina also held various other roles including as a member of the London Executive Board Committee and as co-ordinator for the Bank's private equity activities outside North America in the telecoms sector. Over the years, Nina has acted in a financing and an advising capacity for a large number of media and telecoms companies globally, both in the sub-investment grade and investment grade sectors. Prior to joining CIBC, Nina worked in New York in the leveraged buyout finance market and as a fixed income analyst. Nina has an MBA from NYU Stern Graduate School of Business and a BA from Columbia University/Barnard College.

Julian joined Standard Bank in 1996 and has held several positions within SB Plc. Julian is currently responsible for the Middle East and North Africa ('MENA') region, however is also involved in the CIS and sub-Saharan regions. Prior to this, Julian managed and led projects working with a number of the major telecoms operators in sub-Saharan Africa. Julian holds a Batchelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa, a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Natal and is a qualified Chartered Accountant having qualified with Arthur Andersen.

Jirí joined Standard Bank in 2005 from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”). Jirí started in EBRD’s Central European team where he focused on the pharmaceutical sector. In 2000, Jirí moved to the EBRD Telecoms, Informatics and Media team where he led project finance transactions and projects involving mezzanine and corporate financing in the telecoms sector. Within Standard Bank, Jirí focuses on the wireline, wireless, cable and media sectors in the CEE and Central Asian regions in particular. He has an MBA from Middlesex University and an MSc in Economics from the Prague School of Economics. Jirí is a CFA charterholder.

Sophie joined the Telecoms and Media team in March 2005, primarily to develop senior debt opportunities in the media sector, in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS. Sophie joined Standard Bank from JPMorgan Chase, where she was Vice President in the Loan Capital Markets team, and was involved in secondary loan distribution. Previously, Sophie was a member of the Media and Telecoms team at CIBC World Markets plc, where she was involved in the origination, execution and restructuring of senior debt. Sophie is a graduate of University College London.

Philip joined Standard Bank in 2005 from TD Securities, the wholesale and investment banking division of the Toronto-Dominion Bank. During his time at TD (from 2000), Philip worked on a wide range of media and telecom deals, including investment grade, leveraged and project finance syndicated loan transactions, advisory, including M&A and strategic review projects, and debt restructuring work. Sectors covered include fixed and mobile telephony, cable TV, satellite, broadcasting and print media. In addition, Philip has covered certain corporate sectors including power and automotive. At Standard Bank, Philip has responsibility for marketing and execution of emerging market media and telecom debt transactions. He has a BSc (Hons) in Management from UMIST, now part of Manchester Business School (within the University of Manchester) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Nottingham Business School.

Jay joined Standard Bank in 2004 to launch the Telecoms/Media Finance practice in the Americas. Prior to joining Standard, Jay was a Managing Director at Citigroup and Societe Generale in New York, heading up the Telecoms & Media Project Finance teams in the Americas. He held a similar position at ABN Amro in Miami and prior to that was the Director of Customer Finance for Nortel Networks’ Latin American subsidiary in Miami. Jay spent the initial 10 years of his career with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in New York and also completed expatriate assignments in Chile and Mexico. Jay received an MSFS in International Economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service where he was a NASA Fellow and Landeggar Honors recipient. He received his BA (International Relations and Economics, Summa Cum Laude) from Long Island University.

Angel joined Standard Bank in 2005. Over the past 9 years, Angel has executed numerous telecoms/media projects and structured financing transactions throughout Latin America. He has executed a variety of financial advisory mandates, including restructurings, acquisitions, and recapitalizations for both telecom operators and equipment suppliers throughout Latin America. Prior to joining Standard Bank, Angel was Managing Director at Logica Capital Partners, LLC which focused on providing advisory services in debt structuring, debt restructuring, re-capitalization and M&A services to telecom/media operators, equipment manufacturers and investors in Latin America. Angel has also held the following positions: Senior Vice President with ABN AMRO’s Latin America Telecom Finance & Advisory Group in Miami; Director of ABN AMRO Bank Mexico Representative office in Mexico City; Vice President for BNP Paribas’ San Francisco corporate banking offices; and has also held positions at Union Bank of California. Angel received his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Administration and graduated with honors from California State University, Fresno (USA).

Richard is responsible for Standard Bank’s Asian Investment Banking business. Richard joined Standard Bank in 1993 and has held a number of senior positions within the Bank working in London, Johannesburg and Hong Kong. Richard is an Executive Director of Standard Bank Asia, a member of the Asia Credit Committee and his most recent position prior to his current role was as the Global Head of the Group’s Telecom Finance team. Richard holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from The City University and an MBA from The University of Bath.

Heloise joined Standard Bank in 1998 and has primary responsibility for the Bank’s activities in the telecoms sector in Sub-Saharan Africa, where Standard Bank is the leading adviser and arranger of limited recourse finance for GSM projects. She has advised and arranged funding for cellular telecommunications projects in Cameroon, Gabon, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda amongst others. Before joining the Standard Bank Group, Heloise worked in the development field for the Namibian Government for a number of years. Heloise holds a B.Com degree from the University of Port Elizabeth, an LLB degree from the University of Cape Town and an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Indiana.
