The Standard Bank Group Limited ("Standard Bank")
The Standard Bank Group Limited, based in Johannesburg, is the ultimate holding company for the global activities of the Standard Bank Group. Standard Bank is the largest South African banking group ranked by assets and earnings. The group had total assets of over R1,098 billion (approximately US$156 billion) at 30 June 2007 and employed more than 46 000 (including Liberty) people worldwide. Standard Bank's market capitalization at 30 June 2007 was R139 billion (approximately US$20 billion). Standard Bank operates within three key business segments: Personal and Business Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Investment Management and Life Insurance.
The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited ("SBSA")
The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, Taipei Branch was established in 1989 and is Standard Bank's first international branch outside South Africa. The Branch comprises a Taipei Branch and a Taipei offshore Banking Unit established according to regulation. The Branch is structured into three business units - Global Markets, Resource Banking & Trade Finance and Securitisation & Cash Flow Lending.
Global Markets generally comprises capital market and treasury. Resource Banking & Trade Finance delivers a wide array of banking, lending and forfeiting services to industrial and trading customers. Securitization and Cash Flow Lending business was first created in the mid of 2006 to offer a wide range of securitization products and services, including loans to selective projects with potential of securitization.
