    Standard Bank changed its brand essence and pay-off line to 'Inspired.  Motivated.  Involved.' align with the group visions of being committees to "making a real difference" and being relevant to the societies in which it operates.

    Standard Bank Plc, the international investment banking subsidiary of the Standard Bank Group, South Africa's leading financial institution, was granted a licence by Dubai's Financial Services Authority to establish its first full overseas branch within the Dubai International Financial Centre. 2005

    Standard Bank Plc (formerly Standard Bank London Limited) has been assigned a long-term rating of Baa1 and a short-term rating of Prime-2 from Moody's, and long-term and short-term ratings of BBB and F3 from Fitch.

    Standard Bank London Limited changes name to "Standard Bank Plc"
  • April
    Jim Coupland, Global Head of Base Metals has been appointed shareholder representative on the board of LME Holdings Ltd and Director on the board of London Metal Exchange Ltd, effective 1 April 2005.  He joins Sempra Metals' Deputy Chairman, Michael Hutchinson, who was appointed to represent category 1 members on the exchange's board.
